A prison sentence has been handed down to a Black militia group leader arrested during protests in Louisville.
John Johnson, 59, also known as "Grandmaster Jay," appeared in federal court for sentencing Wednesday morning.

He was sentenced to seven years, two months in prison with three years of supervised release once he gets out.
He was convicted of assaulting a federal task force officer, among other counts.
Johnson and his group, the NFAC, were in Louisville protesting in the summer of 2020 following the death of Breonna Taylor.
He pointed a rifle at two task force officers who were on a rooftop in Jefferson Square monitoring the protests.
Seven years was the minimum time required for a sentence according to Johnson's crimes.
The judge recommended that sentencing for his state charges be served concurrently
